WHERE DO I START

Now, let's get them started cleaning
Do you ever ask your children to clean their room and walk in to find them doing anything but cleaning.  I do and then one day I was standing in my kitchen with dishes and things everywhere and realized this is how my children must feel, "WHERE DO I START!"  So this is a plan I find works for us.
1.  Have them make their bed.
2.  Then have them pick up all the laundry in their room and put it into a laundry basket. I have a basket for clean clothes, so I can hang them up for them.  Or they need to take the dirty clothes to the hamper.
3.  Next, have them pick up toys in groups. Such as doll clothes, dolls, books.  Or cars, stuffed animals, etc. You'll usually end up with a bunch of odds and ends that don't really belong anywhere. Have them toss all of those items on the bed.
The floor should now be completely clean in their room. Have them pick up each item from the bed individually, and decide where each item should go. If they cannot find a place for it, it has to go in the trash. (Or the recycle bin, or the goodwill box, etc.)
 4.  Once the bed is cleaned off they can vacuum and the room will be clean!

It might not be showroom perfect, but let your kids revel in the fact that they did it themselves!
